Proposte

The celebrated Trade Show

Proposte, the word means: Offers, Blueprints, Proposals, in deliberate plural meaning, inducing the concept of dynamic and multiple procedures. The most outstanding Italian manufacturers out of the Interior Decoration sector have started the Proposte in 1993. Following intense market studies of the existing Italian and Foreign tradeshow options, they launched the idea of the crucial need for a new trade-show. The Italian Furniture, Home Textile and Curtain manufacturers did not feel comfortable with the existing trade-fair offers in the range of the specific standards they were looking for. They needed a specialized and selective trade-show, to release a new Made in Europe on the basis of the proven Made in Italy, synonymous with quality and professionalism.

Specialized, because the trade-show would restrain the exhibitor admittance to high-end Furniture, Home Textile and Curtain manufacturers. Selective, because these exhibitors would outstand not only through professionalism, but above all through their inventive and cuttingedge drive, suggesting enjoyment with the experiment, investigation and technology. Deliberately, the Proposte is no public trade-show. Furthermore, the visitors are carefully and thoroughly selected by the trade-show office and have to fit into the following categories: Editors, Upholstery Industry, Wholesalers, Retailers, Converters and Contractors.

The claim of presenting the highest and best to a selected audience turns the Proposte truly into a unique and singular trade-show for Europe and the World. On three days, the Proposte offers a sophisticated insight and overview programmed for a selected public, which is not only designed for practical reasons, but planned to provide a glimpse on the industrial developments. The trade-show proceeds in midst of a superb Garden at the Villa Erba in Cernobbio, nearby the Como Lake, offering sophistication as well as functionalism.

The special charm of a private trade-show has developed its own media effectiveness and it stages the worthy framework of a spectacular and fitting show of forecasts and trends. Out of here, Interior Decoration and Design should conquer the World.

Many Exhibitors from Italy and …Belgium
To the very first trade-show, 1993, there came 44 exhibitors, of which six International ones, and 2,500 visitors: Manufacturer Companies and Retailers from all over the World. 1997 the Proposte received the official  recognition as an International Trade-Show from the Italian Government. The latest trade-show 2009, showed 107 exhibitors – of which 57 were Italian. There is no significant further growth option to the exhibitors’ structure, due to the surface restraints. There are continuously6,300m² at disposal, without any great development options. The controlled proportion of Italian and International exhibitors did not change relevantly during the last three years.

Great names appear, as Viganò and Pozzi from Italy. A great number of foreign exhibitors were from Belgium, exactly 16, whilst France and Spain were present with only 9 exhibitors each: Textiles de France and Muguet from France, for instance. Britain and Germany were present with four exhibitors each: Pongs Velours, Delius and Munzert from Germany, to mention some. From Austria, there was Baumann Dekor.

Most of the Foreign Visitors were Germans!
The Proposte is one of the Trade-Shows basically relying on foreign visitors. In 2009, there were 2,705 Italians at the fair, but 6,726 International guests, of which 578came from Germany. In the whole, the Foreign Visitor numbers in relation to the Italian went very slightly down, the last three years, from 64%, to 62%, to 60% in 2009.

Wholesalers and – second – Textile Editors make up half of the visitor quota, followed by the upholstery manufacturers who make up about 20%. Converters and Contractors are present each with about 10% and almost 6% go to the large distribution chain representatives.
