Tendence
Tendence - Frankfurt International Autumn Fair
Today, the Frankfurt Autumn Fair is called Tendence. It is the traditional and most important shopping platform for the autumn and Christmas retail business in the German- speaking region. To some extent, however, spring and summer items are also already offered. Tendence primarily addresses design-oriented specialist retailers as well as high-quality accessory and gift retailers. In 2010 it will take place from Friday, 27 August until Tuesday, 31 August.
Tendence consists of four main areas:
- Living: Living is the trade fair for interior design within Tendence.
- Giving: The Giving trade fair provides a suitable platform for emotional, trendy and humorous gift ideas as well as jewellery. From the classics to unusual trend products and luxury products, the range also comprises stationery, toys, handicrafts and candles
- and as of late gourmet gifts. Personal accessories together with beauty and wellness products complete the offering.
- Collectione Preview Spring + Summer: This is the meeting place for top decision makers and buyers from chains, department stores, DIY superstores, florist wholesalers as well as garden centres. Here visitors have the option to order products in medium and large volumes for the spring and summer season
early on.
- Passage: Passage stands for the large volume or container business. Here the focus is on home accessories, small furniture, textiles and decoration ideas, outdoor and garden accessories as well as gift items.
Living is the trade fair for interior design within Tendence
With its extensive offering ranging from holistic living concepts to home accessories, the Living trade fair showcases the full diversity of decorative and design-oriented furnishing products. Visitors mainly consist of retailers and buyers from furnishing and furniture stores, boutiques, galleries and lifestyle shops, while the products are centred around furnishings and decorating.

Tendence 2009 - Living
Living is divided into the ‘Interiors & Decoration’ and the ‘Loft’ zones. The Interior & Decoration zone consists of high class furnishing ideas, sophisticated colonial and country style as well as home textiles, pictures, frames, lamps and home accessories. The Loft zone mainly attracts design enthusiasts. Here visitors can find all levels of design – from the established avant-garde to international newcomers.
Tendence is rounded off by numerous informative events and presentations such as the ‘Personal Shopper’ in 2009, where style agencies visit the exhibitors to ‘shop’ for products for certain target groups, or ‘Next’, where Messe Frankfurt offers young, creative providers the opportunity to present themselves to industry specialists and the press at very affordable prices.

Tendence 2009 - Next
New date: 27 August – 31 August
After Tendence was held in the summer a few times and saw a noticeable decline in exhibitor and visitor numbers, Tendence now returns to its traditional date in late summer. This change is the result of comprehensive visitor and exhibitor surveys. According to Messe Frankfurt, around two thirds of respondents were in favour of reinstating the old date at the end of August.
