Furniture China
Destined to grow
After 14 editions Funiture China is the most important furniture trade show in China and meanwhile the second largest furniture show worldwide. It is organized in the venues SNIEC Shanghai and Redstar Macalline, Shanghai, and expanded its total floor space to 400,000 sqm. The fair is destined to grow, because China is not only an attractive sourcing hub to the world, but also an increasingly attractive domestic market.
The show floor is organized by product groups. Each exhibition hall has a clear product focus. The product groups are: bedroom, living room, kitchen, dining room furniture, upholstery, outdoor furniture, traditional Chinese style, children and office furniture. Furthermore, there are furnishings, raw materials & accessories, as well as woodworking machinery. The rattan furniture and premium home furniture areas, newly introduced in 2009, presented themselves in sophisticated stand designs and enjoyed good reception.

The number of exhibitors grew in 2008 and 2009 from 1,139 to 1,906, including 125 overseas exhibitors from 22 countries and regions – not including the exhibitors from the sub-venue of Redstar Macalline.
The 2009 show attracted 61,057 visitors from 160 countries or regions. Although the financial crisis hit the global economy and the Chinese export market faced huge pressure and decreasing orders from overseas, 14,852 visitors made the special trip to Shanghai to check sourcing opportunities. This was an increase by 9.2 %. The top five foreign visitor countries are Australia, USA, Hong Kong, Japan and Canada.
