Evteks 2010 - Overcoming The Global Crisis

EVTEKS (Istanbul May 19th - 23rd, 2010), the second largets home textile trade show in Europe, was described as successful business event in the process of overcoming the global crisis. Numbers of exhibitors and visitors increased both compared to May 2009. Evteks presented the last trend forecast of famous trend scout Gunnar Frank, who passed away recently.

The Turkish textile industry is number four in the world and number two in Europe, and the home textile subsector is especially strong. Turkish home textile industry is one of the market leaders with its wide range of products, its quality standards, fashion orientation and its modern mashinery. Its competitiveness results in an export share of 60 % of the home textile production.

Evteks benefis from this strong position, and also reinforces the same. Evteks 2010 was again strongly supported by an international delegation of businessmen and press members from 31 selected countries like Spain, France, Japan, Germany, UAE, Ucraine, which was facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Trade.

Strong Increase of International Participation
Business mood was still somewhat cautious, however the visitors and buyers were keen surveying new products and styles to offer to their consumers and business customers. Business climate had improved considerably compared to May 2009.
Number of visitors amounted to 81,300, which is a strong 12,9 % increase. Even more remarkable in these times is that Evteks could report an increase of international visitors of more than 30 % from 14,000 to 18,300!
Most of the visitors came of course from Turkey (77,5 %), followed by Middle East (9,0 %), Eastern Europe (6,3 %) and Western Europe (4,0 %).

Also the number of exhibitors increased by 12,1 % up to 748 companies from 18 countries. Egypt and Spain presented own country pavilons. The share of international exhibitors was 15 %.

B2B meetings and trend seminars were organized with the participation of national and international designers and industrialists during the fair. 2011 home textile trends were showcased at the Trend Forum under the motto "Rhythm". It was the last design presentation supported by Gunnar Frank, who was one of the strongest interior design influencers in the last decade. Gunnar Frank passed away May 25th, after a long and severe illness.

Marked as one of the top destinations for importers of quality home textiles, Evteks 2011 will again take place on May 18 - 22, 2011 at CNR fairground in Istanbul.
